Inspiration

"And is it not possible for all of us, while we are young, to be in an environment where there is no fear but rather an atmosphere of freedom; freedom not just to do what we like but to understand the whole process of living? Life is really very beautiful, it is not this ugly thing that we have made of it, and you can appreciate its richness, its depth, its extraordinary loveliness only when you revolt against everything – against organized religion, against tradition, against the present rotten society – so that you as a human being find out for yourself what is true. Not to imitate but to discover. That is education.”

— J Krishnamurti, Think on These Things (1964)

Catalyst for Transformation

The right kind of education, while encouraging the learning of a technique, should accomplish something which is of far greater importance: it should help man to experience the integrated process of life. It is this experiencing that will put capacity and technique in their right place. If one really has something to say, the very saying of it creates its own style; but learning a style without inward experiencing can only lead to superficiality.

Our Journey: The Vision that manifested Akshara Manèy Nature Shaaalèy

When we became parents, we asked ourselves a profound question:
“Can we create a space for our children—fresh, pure, and untainted souls—where they can grow without fear or limitations?”

This thought became the seed for what would eventually bloom into Akshara Manèy. Inspired by J. Krishnamurti’s philosophy, we envisioned a place free from authority, fear, comparison, and rigid instructions—a sanctuary where freedom, responsibility, excellence, and genuine learning could thrive.

Our personal journey has deeply shaped this vision. With backgrounds rich in spirituality, music, and social work, we’ve dedicated ourselves to education and empowerment. From working with NGOs to establish skill-based schools in over 150 remote villages of Karnataka to providing training for school and college dropouts, our path has always been intertwined with nurturing potential.

Our experiences include:

  • Contributing to education initiatives under the guidance of a J. Krishnamurti foundation school.

  • Organizing and participating in nature camps, treks, and social initiatives like waste segregation and sapling plantations in Bengaluru.

  • Collaborating on projects with differently-abled individuals and engaging in animal welfare.

  • Building entrepreneurial ventures in IT hardware, networking, and animation, while traveling and connecting with diverse communities.

These experiences gave us the courage to question conventional education and explore new pathways. We believe education should inspire children and adults alike to become confident, fearless, and responsible individuals.

Akshara Manèy: A Learning Space, Not Just a School

We intentionally avoided calling our learning space a “school,” feeling that the term often carries limiting connotations. In fact, for over a year, this space remained unnamed. Our journey began at the Akshara Mane Library, on the outskirts of South Bengaluru, where generous individuals offered us basic infrastructure to start this educational experiment. The name “Akshara Manèy” naturally became a part of our identity.

Today, Akshara Manèy has blossomed into the space we dreamed of—a vibrant environment where children grow into strong, curious, and fearless young minds.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

Warm regards,
