  • At Akshara Manèy, we celebrate a hands-on, nature-centric way of learning that encourages children to embrace independence and develop essential life skills. Children who are accustomed to managing their personal hygiene, sitting comfortably on the floor during group activities, and eating independently (often without cutlery) tend to adapt more easily to our environment.

We also value active participation in daily chores, such as serving food, tidying up, gardening, and even helping with basic cleaning tasks like sweeping and mopping. These activities nurture a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and connection with their surroundings.

Additionally, we encourage children to manage their belongings, dress themselves (like tying shoelaces and buttoning shirts), and build resilience for physical activities and outdoor exploration. Adjusting to peer dynamics and contributing to the team spirit of the class further enriches their experience here.

For families transitioning from more structured or traditional educational settings, this may feel like a shift, but we see it as an exciting journey toward self-sufficiency and growth.

At Akshara Manèy, we aim to create an environment where children thrive through curiosity, collaboration, and connection with the natural world.

  • Currently, we are not equipped to take in children with LD-learning disabilities, ADHD, slow learners, children in the autism spectrum, since we are yet to equip ourselves with appropriate resources for this particular responsibility.

Pedagogy In Action

At Akshara Manèy, we nurture a compassionate, inquisitive, and fearless mindset. Education here emphasizes self-awareness and relationships with people and the environment, moving beyond conceptual learning to focus on approach and understanding.

Nestled in a serene natural environment near South Bengaluru, our learning spaces are open tree canopies rather than enclosed classrooms. Interactions with peacocks, birds, and other wildlife inspire creativity in storytelling and theatre, fostering a sense of harmony with nature.

Children learn through exploration, inquiry, and investigation, igniting authentic enthusiasm in both students and mentors.

Questioning – The Key to Learning

At Akshara Manèy, curiosity drives learning. Free from traditional grading pressures, children grow at their own pace in an environment designed for exploration and self-discovery.

  • Personalized Learning:
Every child interprets and applies concepts uniquely, and this individuality is celebrated in their work.

  • Circle Time:
A safe space where children share experiences without fear of judgment, fostering self-expression and emotional growth.

Together with parents, we strive to help each child reach their full potential.

Life Skills Development

Through projects, children learn commitment, perseverance, and the value of completing tasks—key traits for lifelong success.
